Frequently Asked Questions:
Where is camp held?
Our next teen girls summer camp is June 4 - 11 & June 11-18, 2011. Our location is the Stone House at the YMCA Chauncey Ranch in Mayer, Arizona located approximately 1 hour and 15 minutes from Central Phoenix.
What age are our campers?
12 - 15 years old.
How do you deal with allergies and food issues?
Each participant is required to fill out an extensive medical history; our nutritionist will design menus to exclude foods that would elicit a reaction. Girls will be part of the preparation process and will be allowed to choose some menus throughout their stay.
What is this camp’s specialty?
We focus on learning experiences that inspire young girls to design an empowered sense of their self. We are not a mental health camp.
What about mental health issues?
We do not specialize in mental health issues. If the camper is currently in treatment or taking medication, please advise us on your medical background form. Many psychological conditions are manageable, but for the safety of the camper, it is important for the staff to know about all mental and physical issues.
Do I have a room mate?
Yes, each room in the lodge sleeps 4 to 6 people per room. Each girl will be assigned a room mate by the coaching staff.
What are my responsibilities at camp?
Participate in everything and have fun. Embrace your life as it is a gift.
Are you affiliated with any specific religion or is religion taught?
No
Tell me about the safety and security of the camp?
Safety is our top priority. All outdoor activities will be directed by trained staff, as well as the ropes courses and other challenging situations. In addition to the screened coaches and ranch staff, there will be no unauthorized guests permitted at camp.
