The Wings Story
Imagine… a future where young women are aware and proud of their gifts; where they live their lives with the courage to be who they are and aspire to their dreams; and, where they have the self-confidence to own their voice… Welcome to Wings to Fly.

Today young girls have it more difficult than ever before to be confident about who they are and find love for themselves. With the media images of perfection, their active responsibilities, endless texting and limited opportunities for real communication and conflict resolution, finding peace and joy from within becomes a challenge that can last a lifetime.

Wings to Fly was built on the knowledge that when girls are inspired to love who they are,
know their strengths, and have real knowledge on the 4 building blocks of an extraordinary life (emotional, spiritual, physical and financial), they find their voice and start making life choices that serve who they are and who they want to be.
.
At Wings we work with all kinds of girls, from all kinds of walks of life. We are not an “at risk”, mental health or a “go get your Self fixed camp”. Wings is a camp that is outrageously fun, interactive and allows girls a safe place to learn who they are, do things they have never done before and find love from within.

With Wings Camps’ endless activities (you name it we do it) girls get the chance to enjoy themselves, make new friends, build their self-confidence and come to realize that when they love themselves they will find more joy and love in their lives. Welcome to happiness.
And these are some of their stories…
“Wings camp gave me the wings to not only fly, but to soar high above expectations. It gave me the confidence I need to survive in this changing world, especially now that I am almost out of school. It helped me to want to be involved (especially as a coach) and do everything in my power to change lives and quite possibly change the world. It gave me the tools that I need to become a successful, young woman and the confidence I need to overcome anything. It helped me to feel and think beautifully. It helped me to be the best me that I can be”…Amber
“To me, camp means friends, fun, and a new family that lasts a lifetime”….Jenny
“Camp meant to me everything summer should be- friends, fun, learning, adventure, and excitement. To me it meant that I could be the person I always wanted to be and do the things I always wanted to do”…Megan
“To me, Wings to Fly is growth and learning to always reach your full potential”…Lauren
“Well camp was a great experience that made me less shy and more open then I was before. Camp was like a new start for me, letting all the negative things go”…Shelby
“If I had to describe my experience at camp, I could probably sum it up in one sentence: "life changing”! Then again, there are a lot of experiences that could be life changing, so to be more elaborate camp was a big stepping stone for me. It helped me better understand who I am as a person, and also made me realize that I had some pretty amazing qualities about myself & everything I'm going to need to succeed in life is already within me, I just need to do some searching”…Katrina
“To me camp was not easy and it was not easy making the change, but to make change it took effort and wanting change I wanted to put forth the effort. Wings to fly put me to where I need to be today. I have high expectations of my hopes and dreams and I am following through with it because of all the lessons I have learned at camp. Camp wasn't what I expected when I went but it was worth the trip. It takes courage to stand up to ones owns expectations and reach their goal. Wings to Fly helped me in many of those aspects”…Lauren
“Camp meant a lot to me. It taught me a lot of self confidence and taught me how to believe in myself and not to let small things take me over. I met a lot of wonderful and AMAZING people. Camp honestly changed who I am, in an amazing way”…Alysa
“My experience at Wings to Fly was very helpful to me. Wings to Fly helped me by being able to set short term goals and long term goals in life. For example one of my short term goals is to save and earn money to buy an Apple computer. My long term goal is to go to collage. And along the way I will have many more short term and long term goals. Learning about goals was not the only part of my experience at Wings to fly. I also learned about money. I learned how to save spend and share money. For example as I said before I am saving money to get an Apple computer, I am trying to spend my own money on things I know I will use because it will help me save money for my computer, and my school helps share money around Christmas time to help the poor people have a better Christmas. At wings to fly I also learned this thing called W.H.I.P. the W stands for wishes, the H stands for hopes, the I stands for inspiration, and the P stands for purpose. I also learned about the 4 building blocks. One emotional (trust), another one is fiscal (health), the next is spirit (Believe), and finally the 4th building block, financial (spend, save, and share). To go with the building blocks there are also 6 pillars. 1 connection, 2 clean communication, 3 compassion, 4 purpose, 5 participation, and finally 6 responsibility. Wings to Fly also told me vary important things like not to ever do drugs or smoke. We also learned about our health with a Doctor. Every thing we learned about was vary important, but one of the most important things we learned about is leadership. Ever since I came back from Wings to Fly I have been more confident in my self. In fact I have been more socialized by getting out there and trying new things like being in student council and making more friends. Wings to Fly are very inspirational.”…Claire |
